After several months of hard work clearing and restoring a local hiking trail, Westford Girl Scouts Troop 85411 had a grand reopening on August 9th of the Butterfield Lane section of the Beaverbrook Trail in Westford, near the Littleton town line. The scouts also worked to bring this trail up to AMC specifications .

Trust VP Dave Ebitson was the scout mentor for this project providing trail construction guidance and help with tree removal and the creation of the trail head sign for which the trust provided funding.

Scout leader Julie Musante stated “Our troop would like to thank you and the WCT for volunteering your time and for the support and guidance you have given us in working on our Silver Award.  Working outdoors on the trail has been a great experience for us.  We also appreciate that the WCT supported putting a sign up to mark the trail.  It is nice reminder of the hard work of everyone involved and what we can accomplish”.

We will have an article in our fall newsletter to highlight their efforts this summer.

Congratulations to the all scouts involved in this project!
